Canada Greener Homes Grant (closed)

This program is CLOSED to new applicants

The federal grant of up to $5,000 for home retrofits ($5,600 with the evaluation reimbursement) is closed. December 31, 2025 was the last day for participants to submit their documents — remaining files are being finalized by NRCan. New applicants should look at the Affordability Program (low- to median-income) and provincial programs — the Greener Homes Loan has also since closed to new applicants.

Frequently asked questions

I was in the Greener Homes Grant — can I still submit documents?

The window has closed: NRCan states that December 31, 2025 was the last day to submit documents. If your file was complete by then, your grant is processed per the program's instructions; contact NRCan about any file still in progress.

What replaced the Greener Homes Grant?

There is no single national replacement. The Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program serves low- and median-income households, and most provinces run their own rebate programs — see our province pages. The interest-free Greener Homes Loan has also closed to new applicants (funding fully committed).

Amounts and rules are set by the program administrator and change without notice. Always confirm on the official page before purchasing equipment.
