Canada Greener Homes Loan (closed)
This program is CLOSED to new applicants
The federal interest-free loan of $5,000 to $40,000 for major home-energy retrofits is closed to new applicants — NRCan states funding is fully committed and new loan applications cannot be approved. Homeowners with an already-approved loan can continue to access their funding. New applicants should look at the Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program (low- to median-income) and provincial programs.

Who qualifies
- ✓You own your home and it is your primary residence
- ✓An EnerGuide home evaluation is completed before and after the retrofits
- ✓The retrofits are on the list of eligible measures (heat pumps, insulation, windows/doors, solar PV, battery storage, resiliency measures)
- ✓One loan per eligible property/homeowner

Stacking with other programs
While it was open, the loan could be combined with most provincial rebates. With the program closed to new applicants, financing must now come from provincial options or private green-renovation loans.

No. Natural Resources Canada states that funding is fully committed and new loan applications cannot be approved. If your loan was already approved, you can continue to draw your funds as planned.
