HAT Smart (Medicine Hat, Alberta)
Medicine Hat's city-owned utility runs Alberta's most generous municipal rebate program: up to $5,000 per existing home for insulation, windows, doors, tankless water heaters, HRV/ERVs and solar (solar at $200/kW, max $1,000). The 2026 program term runs January 1 to December 15, 2026, with amounts reset annually.

- ✓Residential electric/gas/water customer of the City of Medicine Hat
- ✓Solar: grid-connected, at least 1.5 kW, professionally installed, CSA/ULC equipment, rebate after installation

No other Alberta municipal utility publishes a comparable rebate suite. Elsewhere in Alberta, CEIP financing is the main instrument, and there is no province-wide retrofit rebate.
