Home Energy Rebates in Ontario (2026)

Ontario's Home Renovation Savings Program (which replaced HER+ in January 2025) offers up to $7,500 for heat pumps in non-gas homes and up to $12,000 for geothermal, funded through November 30, 2026. Oil-heated homes can stack the federal OHPA grant. Here is every active program, verified.

Canada Greener Homes Loan

An interest-free loan of $5,000 to $40,000, repayable over 10 years, for major home energy retrofits — heat pumps, windows and doors, insulation, solar panels and more. Unlike the Greener Homes Grant (closed to new applicants in January 2026), the Loan is still open.

Canada Greener Homes Grant (closed)

The federal grant of up to $5,000 for home retrofits ($5,600 with the evaluation reimbursement) closed to new applicants in January 2026. Homeowners already in the program can complete their retrofits. New applicants should look at the Greener Homes Loan, the Affordability Program (low-income), and provincial programs.

Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program (OHPA)

Federal support of up to $10,000 (up to $15,000 in co-delivery provinces) to switch a home heated with oil to a cold-climate electric heat pump. Aimed at low- and median-income households currently heating with oil.
